Fewer pieces, more outfits
A capsule wardrobe is not a poor wardrobe. It is a dense wardrobe, where every piece works with several others. It is the logic that has guided the Atelier MAUDÉ collection from the start: a coat, a belt and a scarf designed to speak to one another, not to exist separately.
The five pieces
The long coat. The anchor piece. In cashmere and wool, it carries the season without faltering and defines the silhouette before anything worn underneath even comes into play.
The belt. The most discreet transformation tool in the wardrobe. Tied simply, double-wrapped or as a bow, it completely changes the look of the same coat. We wrote about this in our article on the art of the belt.
The scarf. The touch of warmth that personalises every outing, from morning to evening.
A fine, neutral-toned jumper. The base layer that slips under the coat without adding bulk.
An evening piece. A simple dress or fluid trousers, so the same coat carries you through an ordinary Monday as easily as a dinner out.
Five pieces, fifteen outfits
Simply varying how the belt is tied, how the scarf is draped, and what is worn underneath is enough for these five pieces to compose around fifteen different silhouettes. The wardrobe no longer needs opening in search of a missing piece.
A few pointers for building your own outfits:
- Weekdays — the coat is worn simply belted, the scarf tied short, a neutral jumper underneath.
- Weekends — the coat stays open, the belt tied loosely at the front without a second thought, the scarf draped wide.
- Evenings — the coat is worn cape-style, resting on the shoulders with no belt, the scarf wrapped once.
What this changes
